Farmer's Market

Just relaxin in my stroller...
Pretty...
It smells so good...

We went to the Farmer's Market in the river market last Saturday morning with mommy's friend Jayme. The best part of the trip was getting a gerber daisy and "Baby Cakes" cupcakes!

Swimming Lessons

This past Monday was Isabel's second week of swim lessons this year... she also took swim lessons last summer with Miss Rita. She is such a little fish and totally fearless, it scares me to death! She's been working on blowing bubbles, rowing her boat, and kicking. Last night she even went underwater twice. Next summer Jax will have to start his swimming lessons... I wonder if there will be a little brother or sister to watch him?

Father's Day 2009

Today I was thinking back to last year's Father's Day... little Jax was still God's secret!

Last year Hector was working on Father's Day so we had to make up for what he missed. Our day had a rocky start and we didn't make it to church as planned. Our first stop was lunch at the zoo and then a short stroll to Australia. Unfortunately it was so hot that we didn't stay long.

After the zoo we headed to Zona Rosa to let Isabel play in the fountains... she loved it! Oh, did I mention that after we left Children's Place I found an unpurchased hat in our stroller basket? That's right, Isabel had grabbed it without us noticing! I was so embarassed when I had to take it back!

After Zona Rosa we headed down to Southwest Boulevard and got a torta and queso fundido to take home... delicioso! We ended the day swimming at the pool.

What a perfect Father's Day!

How has it already been FOUR months!

Who knew they made babies this cute!

Jaxon is doing amazing! I was telling Hector just the other day how I think that he is going to grow up to be a kind and gentle man... he has such a loving, sweet spirit. He's the observer who sits back and watches what everyone is doing. He has become especially intrigued with his sister and loves to watch her every move. How can we possibly thank God enough for such a healthy, beautiful baby?

Picnic at the Zoo

Hi there kitty...
Just the 4 of us...
Father and Daughter...
My main man Jax...
Is that a leopard or a cheetah?

A perk of our FOTZ pass is that we get to go to special events at the zoo. Our first was the FOTZ Family picnic... the zoo was open from 4-8 for pass holders only. The evening was gorgeous and we all had a great time. I literally had to drag Hector out of there because he wanted to look at more! We'll definitely be having weekly trips to the zoo for quite some time.

Our Sweet Bunnies

Here's yet another example of how much Isabel and Jaxon look alike... I can hardly believe it!

Guess the baby...

Everyone tells us how much Jax looks like Isabel... so, who do you think is in this picture?

Besos Jax!
Only one smiles at a time

I truly hope that Isabel and Jaxon are always like this... who knows when we'll be adding another brother and sister for them!

Did you know...

Did you know that green crayon does indeed come off of a micro-fiber couch?

Did you know that OPI's Pompei Purple nail polish does NOT come out of your builders grade carpet?

Did you know that 2 year olds sometimes climb on the kitchen table and drink the water out of the vase?

Did you know that it's fun to lift the lid of the toilet and play in the water?

Momma's been learning all kinds of new things!

Working in the Summer

It's official... this is my last summer teaching summer school. I was trying to get ready to leave this morning and Isabel just wasn't having it. She wanted me to hold her and she wouldn't stop crying. It was awful. All I could think about was that I was going to work because I volunteered, not because it was mandatory. It's mornings like this that I wish I could stay home. Not my best day of mommyhood.
15 1/2 days to go!

"Funder... Scared!"

After an entire day of thunderstorms on Tuesday I was trying to put Isabel down to sleep. For the past week we have been working on her going to sleep in her bed by herself... and boy has it been a challenge. So, after all of my hard work I was extremely reluctant to put her in bed with me. But this is what I kept hearing from my sweet two year old daughter "Funder... scared!" How could I possibly leave her in there alone! I'm not quite sure how you teach a toddler that it's only thunder and she shouldn't be scared. I'm 30 years old and I'm still scared of thunderstorms at night.

My Main Man Jax

Jaxon is well on his way to asking for the keys to the car! In the past week he has started rolling over and now that's all he wants to do. We lay him to down to sleep on his back and before we know it he's on his tummy. He's also started laughing and cooing like crazy. He loves it when you stroke his cheek and tell him how handsome he is... that's a definite way to get some cooing. He's truly a sweetheart!

Oh, did I mention that the little guy is getting teeth? Certain "things" were starting to get painful and I couldn't understand why and he was drooling a lot. Hector took a look in his mouth and sure enough there were a couple of teeth buds! How cute is he going to be with a couple of teeth!

The Kansas City Zoo

While daddy was in Mexico we went to the zoo with momma's friend Jayme. We even bought a family pass so that we could every week this summer and leave whenever things get too crazy. We visited Australia and the new tropics on this visit. The coolest thing happened while we were walking through Australia... a kangaroo hopped across the path! After Izzy saw the kangaroo she started hopping just like him, it was hysterical! Jaxon enjoyed Jayme pushing him in the stroller and just took in the new experience. After a couple of hours we decided to head to the park for a picnic, big mistake. The park down from Starlight was filthy and there were people playing frisbee. If you plan on picnicking take your food into the zoo with you... neither one of realized how many spots there were in the zoo to picnic and that you could even take food. Another mommy lesson learned!

Our first trip to the pool

The 4 of us headed to the pool for some family time before daddy left us for Mexico. The water was freezing! After some coaxing and putting her back in the water Isabel finally enjoyed herself. Apparently her new thing is to get in and out of the pool, over and over. Mr. Jaxon was his usual easy going self... we dipped his legs in the water and he hung out with momma. He looks absolutely adorable in his "island" trunks! I'm looking forward to getting Isabel started on her swimming lessons this summer.

Momma's Last Official Day at Southwood

Despite all of my complaining about my fifth graders I have to admit I was really sad to say goodbye. It's hard to explain the bond that can form between a teacher and some of her students after being with them for 2 years. There were days when I wanted to pull my hair out or cry when I got home... but, on that last day all I felt was sadness. Not only was I saying goodbye to some very special kiddos but I was also saying goodbye to Southwood. I know, I'm such a nerd! Here's a pic of 2 of my very favorite people...
