HELP... our house is shrinking!

izzy had to get in as well
our belle tea pot

after his nose dive into the toy box

i'm beginning to wonder if we'll be able to fit in our house with a third child! isabel got a ton of toys for christmas... princess tea sets, a princess baking set, all of the disney princesses, and a slew of other toys. here's some pics of our basement this afternoon.

Christmas 2009

the lopez family

izzy and her princesses
hmm... tissue paper

what a gorgeous christmas morning... absolutely perfect for jaxon's first christmas. we opened our presents and had a yummy breakfast casserole ( i only burnt it a little). isabel was so excited this year and kept saying "for me?" another priceless comment.
we spent the afternoon lounging around and watched some of sleeping beauty. it was perfect. that evening we ventured out in the snow to my mom's house... we were able to spend christmas evening with my my brother and sister and their families.

Christmas Eve

we had a low key christmas eve at home and opened our one gift... we all got new pajamas. we also put the star on top of the tree and read "twas the night before christmas." after we read our story isabel put out cookies and leche for santa claus and carrots for the reindeer. it was adorable. once  the kids were in bed hector made tilapia, grilled shrimp, twice baked potatoes, and green beans. it was delish. i think that a new christmas eve tradition has been born!
unfortunately isabel couldn't sleep because she was scared of the ice that was hitting her window. since it was christmas eve we caved and hector slept with her for a bit.
it was a beautiful christmas eve.

after nap

she said that she was a princess
yes, this is a halloween outfit

as i was updating the blog i began to hear pounding coming from upstairs. this of course meant that isabel was awake, but i wasn't expecting this...

adriane's wedding... isabel's flower girl debut

our family... time for another
momma and daddy
momma and jaxon
ah... a real princess
lovely ladies

my cousin adriane got married this weekend and isabel was their flower girl. the wedding went smoothly with the exception of me having to walk isabel down the aisle... much better than a temper tantrum though. everyone had the best time at the reception... isabel only sat down to eat a little bit of dinner and all of the ladies were stealing jaxon for dances. i have a feeling my little man will be quite the ladies man. he was such a doll.

isabel's first dance recital

a little apprehensive about their upcoming performance
doesn't every girl want a tutu?
isabel has been taking dance class since september. this week they had their first informal show for christmas. izzy's bff ash is the same dance class and we decided to dress them in matching outfits... i have to say that they were the cutest kids there! word cannot describe the feeling of watching your little girl perform for the first time. simply put, it was priceless. isabel wasn't afraid at all and was even dancing. but, the best part was when she pulled ash's thumb out of her mouth and was showing her which moves to do! hopefully i can upload the video so everyone can see.

mexico 2009

these are the only pictures hector took while he and isabel were in mexico.

thanksgiving 2009

adriane and izzy... and jax's head

is it just me or are her signature cheeks fading?
mr. handsome
there's my smile

i've become the worst at remembering to take pictures on holidays. with all the hustle and bustle i totally forget to take family pictures and end up with snapshots of the kids. we spent thanksgiving at my grandparent's house and then had friends over to our house for carne asada that evening... hector's sister joanna and her husband daniel drove from colorado to enjoy the holiday with us.

christmas tree hunting

nope... we didn't choose this one!
jax was the warmest of us all
izzy rode in the wagon
our search has just begun

perhaps as i've gotten older i've forgotten christmas traditions that my mom had in place or is it that we really didn't have any? i honestly do not know. so, it's because of that lack of memory that i want to ensure my children remember our holiday traditions. the sunday after thanksgiving we loaded ourselves into the van and headed out to santa's tree farm... our first tradition. once we arrived we all got bundled up and headed out in search of the perfect tree. and what do you know, we didn't find our perfect tree. we also found out that this was the last year that our tree farm would be open... tradition #1 bit the dust! we did however find the perfect tree at a boy scout lot down the road. perhaps our new tradition will be to roam the fields of a tree farm and then head to the nearest tree lot.
once we made it home we had the most fun ''making christmas."

We're Ready For Christmas

i couldn't resist these matching Christmas monkey pajamas for our 2 little monkeys. this is one of those rare occasions that isabel is actually holding jaxon and not telling him to go away... poor guy.
