Breakfast
Jaxon has become more and more adamant about feeding himself, which of course turns into a huge mess. Here he is feeding himself his morning oatmeal.

The Harness-Evans July Celebration
Each July my father's side of the family comes together for a family reunion. This year was truly special because we met at my grandmother's childhood home... this farm has been in our family for 76 years! As a child we would make Sunday trips to the country and sadly I never enjoyed it. It seemed as if it took forever to get there and then there was nothing "fun" to do... you know what I mean, no TV, no atari, no kids my age! However, going back as an adult was completely different. I was able to learn a bit about my roots and enjoy the wide, open space. My great-grandmother's family moved to the areas in the 1800's and were even founding members of the Cove Creek Christian church. It was so interesting and I can't wait to go back again!
Our Adventurous Boy
Over this summer Jax has become quite the little monkey. Not that he wasn't already into everything... playing in the toilet, drinking from the dog bowl, sitting on top of the dog crate, climbing into the dishwasher, and sitting in the dog kennel at NaNa's. But, he has now taken his "monkeying" around to an entirely new level. Here's just a few examples of his "monkey business" ( if I only had a picture for each one)... climbing onto the kitchen table and playing in the bamboo vase water, pushing a kitchen chair all of the way to the refrigerator and pressing the water button, standing on Isabel's outdoor motorcycle with his foot on the gas while it takes off, climbing all of the way onto the 4 wheeler, climbing into his soccer chair and sliding off of the back, and lastly pulling out his dresser drawer and climbing in. Sneaky, sneaky.
Cupcake A'LaMode
For Isabel's birthday we had a variety of cupcakes from a little shop in Leawood, thanks to Jayme, and there were adorable perfection! So, while Hector and Jaxon were at a meeting Isabel and I did some light shopping and headed over there for a little treat. As soon as you open the door to the shop you are overtaken by the scent of yummy buttercream and batter. The scent alone is in one word... heavenly! Isabel feasted on a peanut butter cup cupcake and I had a red velvet. We will definitely be serving their cupcakes at all of our parties.

Powell Gardens
We have never been to Powell Gardens and decided to get a 1-year membership this year. It is such a beautiful place to visit and a vast amount of space for kids to be free and explore. The gardens are gorgeous and there's even fountains for the kids to play in. We've only been a couple of times, but both trips have been great. On our first visit Isabel was able to paint a flower pot with her NaNa and even pick out a plant to take home.
