Breakfast

Jaxon has become more and more adamant about feeding himself, which of course turns into a huge mess. Here he is feeding himself his morning oatmeal.

Going for a ride

Just one month ago Isabel refused to even drive her Gator, now she's taking Jaxon for drives in the culdesac! She can maneuver around parked cars, drive down the street, and even go in reverse. Jax is just dying to drive but his legs aren't quite long enough... one day very soon.

The Wizard's vs. Manchester United

Hector and I were able to go and witness the KC Wizard's defeat Manchester United, what a game! We had a blast with my cousin Adrianne and her husband Eric.

The Harness-Evans July Celebration

Each July my father's side of the family comes together for a family reunion. This year was truly special because we met at my grandmother's childhood home... this farm has been in our family for 76 years! As a child we would make Sunday trips to the country and sadly I never enjoyed it. It seemed as if it took forever to get there and then there was nothing "fun" to do... you know what I mean, no TV, no atari, no kids my age! However, going back as an adult was completely different. I was able to learn a bit about my roots and enjoy the wide, open space. My great-grandmother's family moved to the areas in the 1800's and were even founding members of the Cove Creek Christian church. It was so interesting and I can't wait to go back again!

Our Adventurous Boy

Over this summer Jax has become quite the little monkey. Not that he wasn't already into everything... playing in the toilet, drinking from the dog bowl, sitting on top of the dog crate, climbing into the dishwasher, and sitting in the dog kennel at NaNa's. But, he has now taken his "monkeying" around to an entirely new level. Here's just a few examples of his "monkey business" ( if I only had a picture for each one)... climbing onto the kitchen table and playing in the bamboo vase water, pushing a kitchen chair all of the way to the refrigerator and pressing the water button, standing on Isabel's outdoor motorcycle with his foot on the gas while it takes off, climbing all of the way onto the 4 wheeler, climbing into his soccer chair and sliding off of the back, and lastly pulling out his dresser drawer and climbing in. Sneaky, sneaky.

Cupcake A'LaMode

For Isabel's birthday we had a variety of cupcakes from a little shop in Leawood, thanks to Jayme, and there were adorable perfection! So, while Hector and Jaxon were at a meeting Isabel and I did some light shopping and headed over there for a little treat. As soon as you open the door to the shop you are overtaken by the scent of yummy buttercream and batter. The scent alone is in one word... heavenly! Isabel feasted on a peanut butter cup cupcake and I had a red velvet. We will definitely be serving their cupcakes at all of our parties.

Underage Drinking

In no way, shape or form to I condone underage drinking. However, my husband thought this was hilarious. And, I have to admit it is a little funny... right?

Where does she get this stuff?

We were sitting down to dinner when out of the blue Isabel comes to the table with a pair of panties on her head and her spoon stuck into the front of the panties. I didn't know if I should laugh or give her a bummer.

Just a little coloring

I have to admit, I'm terrible when it comes to allowing my kids to be artistic! I hate getting out the crayons, markers, and even the play dough. But, I figured since it is summer break I should allow my kids to actually learn and do some coloring... now, hopefully Jaxon won't eat them all.

Slip-N-Slide

Isabel had her best bud Kaelin over for a playdate and they had a blast on the slip-n-slide and with the sand and water table... now Jax needs a little dude to play with.

Drive-In

We finally made our first family trip to the drive-in to see "Toy Story 3." The swivel seats and the back seat the folds flat were perfect for the evening. Sadly, Isabel was the only one who stayed awake for the entire movie... we'll do better next time.

Hawaiin Luau

A friend from work hosted a hawaiin luau and the kids had a blast!

Paradise Park

We made our first trip to the play center at Paradise Park and it was so much fun! They have a ball pit and slides, art area, water area, a place to draw on your face, a pretend grocery story, and an outdoor play area. Isabel and Jaxon had so much fun... we definitely need to go back with daddy.

Fourth of July 2010

This year we decided to do things a little different and spend the day with our family of four. We went to Los Cabos for lunch and then had a yummy dinner at home. It was a nice, relaxing day with our children and they both loved the fireworks.

The Zoo

We took NaNa to the zoo with us and had a great time... we love seeing the animals.

Bluegrass Jamboree

Isabel began her dance lessons at Cathy's Creative Dance in September 2009. She absolutely loves to shake her booty and I know she's enjoyed the past year of classes. She had her first official recital in June and she did fabulous!

Powell Gardens

We have never been to Powell Gardens and decided to get a 1-year membership this year. It is such a beautiful place to visit and a vast amount of space for kids to be free and explore. The gardens are gorgeous and there's even fountains for the kids to play in. We've only been a couple of times, but both trips have been great. On our first visit Isabel was able to paint a flower pot with her NaNa and even pick out a plant to take home.
