violet's first birthday party!

we made some special memories with violet's pumpkin painting party! a first birthday is filled with so many emotions; the excitement of the planning and decorating, the joy of seeing your little one surrounded those that love her, the twinge of sadness that your baby isn't such a baby anymore, and a heavy heart as you remember those that are no longer with us.

we had such a terrific time celebrating violet today! the kids had pumpkins to paint, a piƱata to open, and even a hayride through the neighborhood. violet kept warm as she was bundled in blankets and i'm fairly certain that her feet never hit the ground.

it wasn't until we were singing happy birthday that i became teary eyed. how was it possible that we were already celebrating her first birthday? it was just yesterday that dr. pearman was delivering her and i was realizing that we had another girl... that memory is so clear to me. it's one of those memories that you hope will always be with you.

as i sat with violet and opened her presents i read all of the kind words from the people who lover her the most. friends who have been at every one of our children's parties, family that love our children every bit as much as we do, and new friends who adore our children. i came to a card that wished our sweet girl a happy birthday and it was signed great grandma... that card, hurt my heart. i hadn't thought about it until that very moment. this was the first birthday card that didn't include great-grandpa. i'm so grateful that he got to know violet!

violet, your warmness and cuddliness are so incredibly endearing... we love you!

You are building memories with your children they will never forget. You and Hector are sewing seeds that will be past down from generation to generation. You are teaching your children the treasures of love to one another, your family and friends. May The Lord bless you and continue to guide you. Love Mom
